and this. fresh off mail from VPD:

Vancouver Police have identified the man who died in the police-involved shooting on Friday, March 20th as 58 year-old Michael Vann Hubbard of no fixed address. The autopsy has revealed that he died of a single gun shot. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance video of the incident obtained from two separate sources.

i look forward to the man who claims he’s filmed the entire shooting but got deleted by the police after the fact to be able to successfully retrieve at least the partial footage. he told us last nite that ctv and cbc are fighting to get a hold on the footage. it’ll be very interesting to watch that.

i heard a caller to cknw last week. he said he was pulled over by a cop who decided to issue him a ticket. the man obeyed. but he then wanna take a picture of the cop issuing ticket. the cop demanded him to stop taking, the man insisted he has the right to do so. the cop said, “if you take it, i’ll taser you.”

被控襲警罪名成立、現居卑詩烈治文市的一個華裔男子，堅稱蒙受冤屈，指去年被三角洲（Delta）警方拘捕過程中及在警方拘留中心及素里預審中心內，遭多番毆打虐待。他說不服判決，將繼續上訴，並會投訴至國際人權組織。
事件中投訴遭警方不公平對待的男子蔡健，1998年從中國移民來加拿大，是一位電子工程師。他有兩個10多歲的女兒，案發時他們一家住在南三角洲。他說，去年6月19日晚上10時左右，大女兒突然離家，他事後開車帶著小女兒到大女兒的同學家中找人。
蔡健表示，相信該戶居民在發現他到來時已經報警，他入屋見到大女兒，但稍後駛來兩輛警車，其中一輛內載有他的太太。兩個警員到場後，其中一個白人警員入屋向大女兒問話，並且要求他及太太離開。另一個亞裔警員則在門外向男屋主問話，之後要求蔡健到警車前接受問話。
聲稱右手受傷眼鏡遭撞碎
蔡健說見到該警員是亞裔，先用中文同他交談，但發現對方不懂，於是以英文說需要翻譯，但對方沒有回答。此後，警員命他轉身把手放到背後，他隨即被戴上手銬和搜身。蔡健說太太在政府部門工作，英文較好，因此他叫太太的名字，意在讓她出來當翻譯。但該個亞裔警員即揮拳打他腹部、踢他的腿，並且推他的頭部撞向警車，結果他右手受傷，眼鏡撞碎掉落在警車內。
他說，被帶到警局後，曾經向一女警投訴遭警員毆打並展示傷口。蔡健說他曾要求翻譯，並且拒絕了女警拍照的要求。在對方要他簽字時，他則堅持要有律師在場。
蔡健表示該女警同意去找他太太當翻譯，但折返時卻帶來6到7個男警員打他。蔡健說遭人打了50到100下，同時還被卡著脖子。
蔡健說，6月20日他在素里省級法庭出庭，律師說他被控打女兒，但沒有說他被控襲警。當日下午，蔡健說他太太同兩個女兒在法庭門口等他出來，但太太後來遭多個警員推倒在沙發上，兩個社工跟著把兩個女兒帶走，直到40天以後才把兩個女兒歸還。
此案因涉嫌毆打女兒而起，但蔡健否認毆打虐待女兒，說法庭此後也宣判此指控罪名不成立，准許他返家同家人團聚。
法庭文件顯示，素里省級法庭裁定蔡健襲警罪名成立，判入獄一天，緩刑6個月。由於被告已經被關押19天，因此不用入獄。不過，法庭也禁止蔡健在3年內擁有武器。
警方拘留所加上預審中心，蔡健說他共被關押19天，不但被警察毆打，而且9個月被禁止回家，只好在酒店棲身。他說目前正諮詢律師意見，看看向三角洲警察局投訴被警員毆打有沒有作用。事件令他不滿本國的人權狀況，打算上訴聯邦法庭討回公道及向國際人權組織投訴。
