Too much of a “show” with 加拿大西岸四大原住民部族族人進場 …

  2. ChengFan

    Some people also said,

“The sermon about who we are as Canadians should have been left out as well. It makes us seem like a bunch of self righteous ,” were better than you are, nations of the world”, snots …”

  3. ChengFan

    Testimony continues …

“I’m watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and they suck. Visitors to Canada will think we are multilingual. Only in the deluded minds of the govt.

The show of Indians dancing around is dull, so are the totme poles. Some Indians don’t even want to be called Canadians. Why are they at centrestage of the Olympics Games?

couldn’t Agree with you more this is bull*$*$ why are a bunch of aboriginals dancing around totem poles like they are on some weird drug no wonder the world still thinks we live in igloo’s and just eat maple syrup I can honestly say this is sad to watch, a joke…

The poem is laughable. Do they understand China town or little Italy are ethnic enclaves resulted from unequal treatments of minorities from the dominant culture?

Also they should do somthing about bringing THE WORLD together; instead of just obsessing with being Canadians which is of no concern for people of other nations. “

  4. ChengFan

“I think the one who should be pissed are the aboriginal people not your average non-native Canadians. They like to pull out the native culture and claim it as its own for convenient reasons while the reality is that most Natives are living as fringes of society, social and economical outcasts resulted from a long history of abuse to their people and culture.”

  5. ChengFan

The above is what some people feel about the “Western coverage” of Winter Olympics 2010 opening ceremony.

  6. Some Guy

I agree with most of those comments, especially “They like to pull out the native culture and claim it as its own for convenient reasons while the reality is that most Natives are living as fringes of society, social and economical outcasts resulted from a long history of abuse to their people and culture”.

What’s weird is that you can’t seem to draw the parallel to Ethnic issues in China. The paternalistic “We know what’s good for them” policies are shown to have failed in Canada, so why do you support the same ones in China?

Anyway, it’s clear ChengFan that you’ve created a half-imaginary West in your mind with only all the negative aspects of Western culture, and you are going through life looking for proof of your “Hate and Race” theory like Nash in the movie “A Beautiful Mind”. You should reflect on whether this is healthy for you.

  7. ChengFan

You agree with those comments? Could you tell you why your “Western Coverage” of the Winter Olympics 2010 ceremony showed exactly the opposite of what those comments said?

  8. ChengFan

I am re-thinking what Some Guy said here,

“What’s weird is that you can’t seem to draw the parallel to Ethnic issues in China. The paternalistic “We know what’s good for them” policies are shown to have failed in Canada, so why do you support the same ones in China?

So if there is a White person from USA or UK asking him about Canada’s native indians situation, what would be his response?

Would he start rambling how USA must give back the state of California and the state of Texas to Mexico and condemn the treatment of Navajo, Mohawk and Cherokee natives in USA? Would he mention the occupation of Northern Ireland by Britian and the on-going issues with Scotland and Welsh? And don’t get me started about Europe … how many times each country’s borders have been re-drawn there over and over?

Somehow I don’t think so. You see this kind of thing only happens to us colored immigrants …

  9. Some Guy

Sorry, this will be my last post

    >Somehow I don’t think so.

Well u thought wrong, because I would chew their ears off about Canada’s native situation. Too bad u never knew who I was and now u never will. Enjoy your schizophrenia.

Let me guess you are from U.S.S.R.?

In the Soviet Union, psychiatry was used for punitive purposes. Psychiatric hospitals were often used by the authorities as prisons in order to isolate political prisoners from the rest of society, discredit their ideas, and break them physically and mentally; as such they are considered a form of torture.

Psikhushka (Russian: психушка) is a Russian colloquialism for psychiatric hospital. It has been occasionally used in English since the dissident movement in the Soviet Union became known in the West.

Let’s not guess one bit. For sure he is an earthling, just as ordinary like you and me, who would want betterment of humankind on this lonely beautiful blue planet where everyone calls HOME . . . .
    BUT he’s got a bit too much cheese in his cranium . . . . hahaha . . .. hehehe . . . . .

Happy Lunar New Year . . . . of the TIGER.

More visible minorities at closing, VANOC hints?

    http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/02/18/bc-visible-minorities-olympic-ceremonies.html

    Why bother with this charade???

As always, read the comment section over at CBC and see what white people say about it.

    NO MORE LIES!!!

  13. ChengFan

About the CBC comment seciton, they say “Comments on this story are pre-moderated. Before they appear, comments are reviewed by moderators to ensure they meet our submission guidelines.”

So if I post a reply and say Canada’s white people are racist, they don’t respect people, lie about multiculturalism and blah, blah, blah … my reply won’t show up.

ON THE OTHER HAND, white people can post 97 pages of their racial hate, bigotry, intolerance, white supremacy against “visible minorities” with impunity. You see, the truth is out there. You just have to look for it.

  14. a person of land to consider self canadian when paid in full for leasing of my land

the people who have immigrated here to canada have done by choice and others have been given refuge or rescued. also some of your ancestors were given land for free ehen they arrived while it was against the law for first nations people to buy the same land. many of you are represented in the everyday interaction of people– through business dealings. many of your cultural ways and ways of cloaking ones self (tartan, style, texture) is seen on any given day on any given street. your food is represented in restaurant menus. there are movies shown in major cities in your traditional language with people who look like you… you are seen in canada and you are accepted for how you look before the original peoples of this land.

if the 2010 olympics were held in germany and the original peoples of germany, their language, their dress, their dance, their representation were shown along side other cohabitants cultures and language (other german peoples) in the opening ceremonies do you think they would be having the conversations you all are having?

the first non-first nations permanent residents have been in canada for 405 years and 152 years here in bc.

first nations people have been here for 13- 10 thousands years.

english people have been in england for approximately 35.000 years
italian people in italy 200, 000 years
russian people in russia 35, 000 years
african people in africa (except for aficaan) 1.5 million years
chinese people in china 1.36 million years
and so on and so on

do you think they would showcase the peoples who immigrated there 152 – 405 years
    before their own?

Unless they were been colonized! Like the africaan people of the africans

“”"also some of your ancestors were given land for free ehen they arrived while it was against the law for first nations people to buy the same land.”"”

    ——————————–

I respect the First Nations people.

+++some of your ancestors were given land for free ehen they arrived ++++ The word “stakeholder” goes back in the old days when people were given right to a piece of land if they would stake their claim on it. It was called a “homestead”. White people were given homesteads but not Chinese people. First Nations people were put into reservations.

My grandmother told me stories of old timers used to try to stake a claim on a piece of land only to have the stake pulled up and replaced by the white man’s own, some audacious Chinese would try to take the white man to court and they would lose because Chinese people were not recognized as citizens eventhough they had been in Canada longer than the white people who just arrived from Europe. Look at the Hutterites, they were given sections of prime farmland even before they arrived in Canada.

WOW, who is that guy? I don’t want to do everything here (to reply).

So that guy is saying senoritiy? And because of that, they are more deserving than the others, even though they came as invaders and war criminals?

I love the second part. They “allow” us to live our lives like having restaurants instead of putting us in concentration camps or be killed what they did to the native indians.

Finally, the people who have immigrated here to canada have done by choice? It sounds familiar. It reminds me of Madoff’s ponzi scheme in which he lied to his investors. That’s why I said it is so important for them to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

  18. ChengFan

Chinktalk and others, please, please reply more often. I don’t want to hoard all the replies to THEM.
