Former, former, former solicitor general resigns again

Kash Heed inaugurated as MLA in 2009. (file)

Am I hearing this right? Former BC solicitor general Kash Heed has resigned AGAIN?? How do we address him now — Former-former solicitor general? What a joke…

Well, with all this flip-flop-flip-and-flop’s, the credibility of Heed is devastated. Even if he’s eventually be cleared AGAIN his credibility and the government’s credibility is crushed. Politics is all about perception. This is the worst time for the Liberals for such a scandal when 85% of British Columbians are already angry over the HST.

Well, perhaps an old Chinese saying best describes it: “Rotting is a precondition for the birth of worms (that would eventually kill the host)” — 物先腐而後蟲生. Being in power for a decade, it’s time for the BC Liberals — in fact any political party — to rot.

B.C. solicitor general Kash Heed resigns from cabinet post… again

THE CANADIAN PRESS

VICTORIA – B.C. Solicitor General Kash Heed resigned from cabinet again Wednesday, just a day after being reinstated.

Heed told reporters that the events have been “a whirlwind of circumstances.”

“It’s night and day and it’s stormy. It’s unpredictable this set of circumstances,” he said.

The former police chief said he went home Tuesday night, discussed the matter with his wife, and decided he needed to step down again.

He then contacted the premier, who is in Europe, and informed him of his decision.

Heed first resigned his cabinet post last month after revealing there was an investigation into allegations related to his campaign in last May’s provincial election.

A special prosecutor appointed by the Criminal Justice Branch cleared him Monday of any wrongdoing, while charges were laid against three of his top campaign officials.

Premier Gordon Campbell re-appointed him to cabinet Tuesday but within hours, the special prosecutor who cleared Heed resigned, citing revelations his law firm had contributed $1,000 to Heed’s campaign.

Lawyer Terrence Robertson admitted he knew about the donation when he was appointed special prosecutor but when the RCMP asked him about it, Robertson told them he felt there was no conflict of interest.

In the wake of the revelation, Heed at first said he was staying put because he’d been completely cleared.

“The findings exonerated me,” Heed said Tuesday. “I’m living by that right now, and we are ready to move forward.”

But by Wednesday morning he had informed the premier he would step down again.

“Mr. Heed anticipates a new special prosecutor will be rapidly reappointed and is confident that individual will confirm the findings of his predecessor, which was the basis of his reappointment to cabinet,” the premier’s office said in a statement.

Heed was elected in a south Vancouver riding by less than 750 votes after being recruited as a star candidate by the B.C. Liberals.

The former Vancouver police officer and West Vancouver police chief was quickly appointed solicitor general and minister of public safety.

But his election came under a cloud last month over complaints about an inflammatory campaign leaflet mailed to Chinese-Canadian voters in his riding and two neighbouring ridings.

The Chinese-language mail-outs, which did not identify themselves as official campaign literature, accused the New Democrats of planning to legalize illegal drugs, including heroin and cocaine, and said the party would also consider bringing in an inheritance tax.

The criminal justice branch announced Monday that Heed’s campaign manager, his financial officer and the owner of a printing business face a host of criminal and Election Act charges.

The Opposition New Democrats condemned Heed’s initial reinstatement, saying he should remain out of cabinet until the charges go through court.

Critics also suggested Heed step down as MLA and face a byelection, arguing the original vote was tainted by the campaign dirty tricks.

    Yawn!

What did you expect from a regime like Canada? Don’t expect the bingo-gate, fudge-it-budget NDP to be any better … The government here is 100x worse than HKSAR government and 5,000x worse than british-hk government before 1997.

  2. ChinkTalk

I would rather have the Canadian rot than being ruled under the British anytime.

That is why Trudeau brought back the Contitution.

But admittedly, there is something atrociously wrong with our Canadian democracy, specifically in BC, and as Canadians, it is our duty to start talking honestly and admit our failures, and tell the bullshiters like Campbell and the BC Libs to shut the F up.

i don’t want to see canada under the british rule either. the brits aren’t necessary more superior in running a country. in my opinion, we should have a cleaner cut with our former colonial boss — axe the damn position of GG and save us millions of dollars a year!

CF you’re right… i don’t see a better government in the NDP either. we are stuck in an impasse at both provincial and federal politics… we don’t like the ruling party but we don’t see a clear alternative… hopelesss

A former Vancouver police officer who was fired after being charged with drug trafficking was released on bail on Wednesday.

Peter Hodson, 31, was granted $65,000 bail. He is also subject to a series of strict conditions, including an order to stay out of the City of Vancouver unless it is for court or for work.

He also must abide by a curfew, is only allowed to own one phone and can’t be intoxicated outside the home. There are also a number of people Hodson cannot have contact with.

Hodson was arrested and fired from his job in April, following an extensive police investigation.

He is charged with trafficking marijuana, two counts of breach of trust and one charge related to the illegal use of a police database.

Hodson is scheduled to be back in court in June.

I have HK friends living in the UK. Politically, I think they are much better than Canada.

No matter what political system they have in Britain, they will never treat Chinese people equally.

To a certain extend, it also applies to Canada.

Having Chinese visas processed in Mumbai, how do like that as a slap in the face.

This is the remnant of the colonial practice of having one slave lording over another slave.

It doesn’t matter what political system you have, the bottom line is who has the hammer. Why would a white law firm like Harper Grey donate $24,000 to Wally Opal and Kash Heed, because of the Indo vote. The BC Libs can count on a win there. The Indo-Canadians can do without whites and Chinese votes, they can deliver a win themselves. No Chinese politician can claim this. And look at how the media is sugar coating the whole fiasco and an insult to democracy. If a Chinese would have done this, you would hear words like corruption, abuse of power, criminal, etc.

A Chinese boat spilled 27,000 gallons of oil in Australia and people want to destroy China the environmental monster, yet, British Petroleum’s massive historic oil eruption that cover the whole of southern seaboard, you never see one word against the British.

Chinese people will never get a fair shake from the Anglos, no matter under what political system. Chinese people must unite and make things work for ourselves, we have to learn from the Indo-Canadians.

  9. Kreatol

    Learn from the Indo-canadians . . . . . NO WAY . . . . .
ChinkTalk, you must be joking BIG TIME !!!
Jaffer, Kash Heed & now Dervinder Shory (alleged mortgage fraud with BMO), just to name a few, ring a bell ?? Huh . . . .
No intention to paint that ethnic group with the same brush.
For sure we should and must unite ourselves, & instead learn from our forefathers (& foremothers as a matter of facts), whoever they are, and go our OWN way. Remember that famous lesson 塞翁失马. We should always keep that in mind to be humble, modest and stay low key.

    ChinkTalk,

The mainstream media is sugar-coating this because White people’s Justice system nominated an independent prosecutor whose law firm had donated money to Kash Heed. Talk about typical Canadian foul-up, corruption and conflict of interest?

I said so many times, case after case after case, and you know the best part? I don’t have to do one single thing. White people will automatically continue to mess things up in the future. That’s Canada!

  11. ChinkTalk

We should always keep that in mind to be humble, modest and stay low key

Kreatol, you sound like my grandfather

Of course, I do have respect for my grandfather.

  12. ChinkTalk

“White people will automatically continue to mess things up in the future. That’s Canada!”

ChengFan, I don’t think Canada can accept all the honours. At the moment, the Europeans are the ones who have the propensity to create the biggest mess worldwide. The Greeks are crying like a baby and throwing tandrums because now they can’t live off borrowed money anymore. Why do the Greeks think that the world owes them a living, even our homeless in Vancouver are self supporting. This is indicative of white tyranny. Look what is happening to GREAT Britiain without its colonies. Instead of pulling in their boot straps and take the medicine, they are rolling on the floor, balling, kicking the air.

Comparatively, China, with its many faults, is a beacon of stability. Of course, you will never see the Western media saying that. They would take every chance to blame China instead.

China is right in controlling the Yuan, imagine the havoc if the Yuan is floated and the Western manipulators start to do a Greek job on it.

  13. ChengFan

ChinkTalk, talking about Greece is a bit of a stretch. Each EU member nation is quite different with its own socio-economic problems. You cannot group Europeans into a lump sum called White people. That’s like saying Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese are all the same, which is far from the truth.

  14. ChinkTalk

Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese all have slant eyes.

  15. ChengFan

That’s how White people in North America generally feel towards us, yes. This is THEIR domain. They are the mainstream majority.

  16. Chinataren

It takes two to tango. KH’s 3 stooges would not have pulled it off without the collaboration of a Cantonese speaker. To be expected, any investigations would not reveal the face and name of the cowardly tape-recorded lies.

  17. ChengFan

Chinataren, anyone can do some translation work for money. It is just English to Chinese translation, they could have used free internet on-line translator service.

  18. Chinataren

“It got worse two days before the election, when Chinese homes in the riding received recorded telephone messages.”

  19. ChengFan

Chinataren, I know some White guys who can speak Cantonese perfectly. That proved nothing.

  20. Chinataren

That’s a possibility or else unity is a farce. That is assuming voters can think beyond partisan politics.

  21. Kreatol

White guys can speak Cantonese or not is a non-issue.
The real problem was the gullible nature & scary-cat mentality, especially amongst the Chinese-canadian community ignorant of the real issues.
But the die-hards will still support these Teflon Libs no matter how corrupt, arrogant and lying they could be !!!
    So, CHEESE-HEADS for white people ( only some of them . . . . )
    PEA-BRAINS for us Chinese-canadians ( only some of us . . . . ) Hahaha . . . .

  22. ChengFan

Chinataren, what sort of unity do you mean?

Kreatol, go outside Greater Vancouver to meet some red-neck white folks then you will see what’s real gullible and ignorant and hate mentality, even today, in 2010.

  23. Chinataren

Kreatol, how can we improve and overcome that flaws?
I’ve following closely the various factions in the community; it seems that suspicion is so ingrained after the cultural revolution and I was told that it would take at least another generation to remove the psychology effects.

CF, have you taken down your site? I can no longer access it,

  24. ChengFan

Chinataren, I was affiliated to that site but I wasn’t the owner. I hope it comes back soon …

  25. Kreatol

See my two key ‘words’ – die-hards & Teflon Libs – it could be a bit difficult to crack !!! But we must try . . . . get out of these CheeseHeads/PeaBrains mindsets.
This coming by-election, next provincial election or whatever, make the right choice. Oooops !!
Make the ‘ LEFT ‘ choice this time around. Give it a try, again, pleeeease . . . .

  26. ChengFan

Better yet, leave Canada before the next by-election or provincial election.

Save yourself while you still can!!!
